Masonry work for your homefrom a Waco crew that cleans up

Craftsman Waco Concrete and Masonry is a masonry contractor in Waco, TX. We're best known for mortar repair on older brick and for walls and yard work that look like they belong where they're built. We've been at it since 2021.
I spent years on the line in restaurant kitchens before I learned masonry under a local mason. A plate that goes out wrong comes right back, so I want your job right the first time and your place left clean. There's more on how I got here on our about page.
- Straight answers, no sales pitch
- Work that suits your house
- A clean yard when we're done
What we build and fixin brick, stone and concrete
Stair-step cracks in brick or doors that stick can mean the foundation has moved. We find out why before we fix anything.
A chimney that leaks into the ceiling or sheds brick onto the roof gets fixed where it's failing, from the cap on top down.
Crumbling joints let water into the wall. We rake them out and refill them so the brick looks crisp and sheds rain again.
Cracked or flaking bricks come out one at a time, and we set in the closest match we can find.
Pavers on a packed base give you a driveway you can repair one piece at a time instead of breaking out a slab.
For a sloped yard, we build retaining walls with gravel and drainage behind them so water drains out instead of pushing on the wall.
Got an older brick or stone house? We clean, repair and repoint it so it keeps the look it was built with.
A new masonry fireplace, built from the firebox up, gives your living room or patio a spot to sit by a real fire.
Stone veneer gives a house front, column or fireplace the look of solid stone, set over a backing that lets water drain out.
Block walls make sturdy privacy and garden walls. We set them on a poured footing and grout the hollow cells where it needs strength.
For a crawl space, stem wall or addition, we lay the block foundation the house sits on, square and level on its footing.
We build the grill island, counter base and bar you've been sketching in brick, block or stone that suits the house.
A walkway in brick, pavers or flagstone goes down on a packed base with a pitch so rain runs off instead of pooling by the door.
We lay new brick walls, from a low garden wall to an entry column, straight and level, with joints tooled to shed water.
Stone walls, steps and columns are laid by hand, each piece picked and fit so the work looks like it belongs there.
When only some joints are cracked or missing, pointing fills just those, so you're not paying to redo the whole wall.
One visit covers the chimney, the joints and the yard. Size, access and how much old work comes out set the price, materials and permits set the timing, and the written estimate gives you your number.

How a job runsfrom your call to the walkthrough
We keep it to four steps, and nothing on your property starts until you've read the written estimate and told us to go.

I come out and look
I come out, look the job over and ask what you want. Then you get a free written estimate, with no obligation to go ahead.
We prep and build
Once you say go, we line up materials and any permit, prep the site and do the work, with me on site alongside our masons.
We walk it together

Why Waco hires usfor brick, stone and block
We're a small, owner-run crew, so you deal with the same people from the first call to the last joint, and you get plain answers the whole way.
A straight answer before any work
I look at the wall myself and tell you what it needs. If it doesn't need anything, I'll say so instead of selling you a job.
Mortar fit to your wall
We mix mortar to suit the brick or stone instead of grabbing the hardest bag, because on older walls, mortar harder than the brick makes the brick crack instead of the joint.
Picked up as we go
Like a cook keeping a station, we clean as we work, so mortar bags, broken brick and cut stone don't pile up in your yard.
You hear from us as it moves
We answer quickly and tell you what's happening as the job moves along, so you're not left guessing what comes next.
Permits pulled for you
When a job needs a permit, we pull it and line up inspections. Rules differ by city, so we check with the office for your address before we start.
Same person, estimate to finish
I run the work on site with our masons and helpers, so the guy who wrote your estimate checks the joints. Get in touch to set up a visit.

Masonry questions, answered
How much does masonry repair cost in Waco?
It depends on what your wall needs, so I give you a free written estimate after I see it instead of guessing over the phone. The biggest swings come from how much old mortar or brick has to come out, how high we're working, like on a two-story chimney, and whether the brick or stone has to be matched.
Is it cheaper to repoint a few joints or redo the whole brick wall?
Pointing just the bad joints usually costs less when the damage is in a few spots, but if most of the wall is crumbling, doing it all at once is often the better buy. I'll tell you which one your wall needs, and I'll tell you when it needs nothing.
How long does a chimney or brick repair take?
There's no single answer, because the size of the job, how fast materials come in and whether a permit and inspections are involved all set the pace. We'll talk through timing when I come out, and we keep you posted once work starts.
Is Craftsman Waco Concrete and Masonry licensed and insured?
Yes, we're licensed and fully insured. The masonry is ours, but the city ties most electrical work to a licensed electrician, so lights or outlets in an outdoor kitchen need one too.
Should I fix my foundation before repointing cracked brick?
Usually, yes. If the cracks come from a foundation that's moved, fresh mortar will just crack again, so we find the cause first and fix the brick after.
Do you guarantee your masonry work?
Yes. Your satisfaction, guaranteed. I'd rather get it right the first time than redo it, so I check the joints and corners as we go instead of waiting until the end.
Should I use real stone or manufactured stone veneer on my house?
I lean toward real stone where the wall can carry the weight, because it holds its color and a loose piece can be reset. Manufactured stone is lighter and usually costs less, which makes it the better fit over framed walls.
Do I need an engineer for a retaining wall or foundation in Waco?
In Waco, a retaining wall taller than 48 inches has to be designed by an engineer and needs a foundation permit from the city's Inspection Services. Foundations on expansive soils, the clay that swells and shrinks, also need a registered engineer's investigation and design.
